Welcome to Peniel Community Church!

Peniel Community Church is a small non-denominational Bible preaching, Bible believing country church in the hills of West Virginia. The church was originally organized in 1888. God has blessed us with a congregation that comes from Reedy, Spencer, Ripley and the surrounding area. We are a church filled with the love of God, agape love. We are a Christian church in our beliefs. We do not enforce a dress code, worshipers come dressed in everything from overalls to suits. The most important thing is that you come to worship God with prayer, praise, song and service. All are welcome.

Articles of Faith

We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, that it is a perfect rule of faith and practice, and that among other things it teaches the following important doctrines:

  1. There is one only living and true God; infinite in every natural and moral excellence; that He has revealed himself as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; the same in essence and equal in divine perfections. Duet. 4:39, Isa. 44:6, Isa. 6:3, Isa 9:6, John 1:1, Rom. 9:5, John 16:13, Luke 3:22, Acts 5:34, 2 cor. 13:14.

  2. That man was created holy, but by willfully violating the law of his Maker, fell from that estate so that by nature there is no good thing in us, and in that all have sinned, they are the children of the wrath, justly exposed to everlasting condemnation and misery. Gen. 1:27, Eccl. 7:29, Gen. 2:16-17, Gen. 3:6, Gen. 6:5, Eph. 2:3, Rom. 2:5-9, John 3:18 and 36, Rom. 5:12.

  3. That the only way of escape from this condemnation is through the atonement of Jesus Christ, whom God hath sent forth to be a propitiation through faith is His name, what whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Acts 4:12, Heb. 5:8-9, Rom. 3:24-25, John 3:14-16.

  4. That all children of God were chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ; in consequence not of their own merit but of God's own purpose and grace; and that owing to a sinful aversion to God, none do, or will repent but by the influence of the Holy Spirit. 2 tim. 1:9, 2 thess. 2:13-14, Titus 3:5-6, Eph. 1:4-5, Joh 3:20, John 16:7-8, 1 Peter 1:22.

  5. That all true believers will be kept by the power of God, through faith unto salvation, the sure and final proof of being true believers, consisting in continued love and obedience til close of life. 1 Peter 1:5, Rom. 5:10, John 16:7-8, 1 Peter 1:22.

  6. That a visible Church of Christ, is a congregation of baptized believers associated by covenant in the faith, and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights and privileges investing in them by His word, that it's only proper officers are bishops or pastors and deacons. Acts 2:37-47, 1 Cor. 1:2, Phil. 1:1, 1 Tim. 3, Titus 1:5-9.

  7. The Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; to show forth in solemn and beautiful emblem of our faith in a crucified, buried and risen Savior, that it is a prerequisite to the privileges of a church relation, and to the Lord's Supper in which the members of a church relation by use of bread and wine, are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ. Matt. 28:19-20, Acts 2:38-41, Acts 8:36-39, Rom. 6:3-4, Col. 2:12, 1 Peter 3:21, Matt. 26:26-30, Acts 2:42, 1 Cor. 11:23-34.

  8. That the first day of the week is the Lord's day, and it is to be kept as a day sacred to devotion and the worship of God. Mark 2:27-28, Mark 16:9, John 20:19-26, Acts 20:6-7, 1 Cor. 16:1-2, Rev. 1:10, Ex. 20:8.

  9. There will be a resurrection of the just, and unjust, and a general judgment; an everlasting punishment of the wicked, and an endless blessedness of the righteous. Dan. 12.2, Eccl. 12:14, Rom. 2:6, Rom. 14:10-12, Acts 17:30-31, 2 Cor. 5:10, 1 Thess. 4:14-17, John 5:8-29, Rev, 20:12-13, Matt. 25:34 and 41 and 46, 2 Peter 3:7-14.

  10. We believe according to the Holy Scriptures, (i.e.) Leviticus 20:13 and Romans 1:26-27; that homosexuality in all it's forms and variations is an abomination unto God in whom we believe, and therefore is deemed morally and physically wrong according to the faith and belief practiced by this church, nor will we allow any known homosexual to hold membership or office. Anyone found to be homosexual will be disciplined according to the faith and practices of Peniel Community Church.

  11. All life belongs to God and we believe life is created at the time of conception, and because it is, we believe abortion is murder and should not be performed. Ex. 20:3, Matt19:18.
